WIN – North Brandenburg Water Tourism Initiative
The North Brandenburg Water Tourism Initiative (WIN) was founded in 2003 and is a joint project of the Barnim, Oberhavel and Ostprignitz-Ruppin districts, the towns of Eberswalde, Liebenwalde, Neuruppin, Oranienburg, Templin and the Wandlitz municipality.
WIN aims to develop the most attractive inland water tourism area by investments in water tourism infrastructure between Berlin and Müritz, the rivers Havel and Oder, linking the area directly with Poland via the Finowkanal and the Oder.
Since 2003, the following projects are at the center of the work of the WIN-initiative:
- Project 1: extension of the Werbellinkanal - the project has been completed in 2011
- Project 2: Expansion of Finowkanal, Section "Langer Trödel" – the project has been completed in 2015, its operation will start in 2016
- Project 3: Oranienburger Havel / Ruppiner Kanäle (Waterways between Oranienburg and Neuruppin) – in planning stage.
Almost 22 million have been invested in the implementation of the first two projects. Of this, WIN municipal partners have contributed approximately 8 million.
The WIN initiative cooperates closely with numerous partners in Germany and Europe. We are interested in new partnerships and projects. Please contact us for any questions and potential collaborations.
